26 Jan Hernando Named 2021 FMPR Scholar
Fujita & Miura Public Relations (FMPR) announced that Ryleigh Hernando has been named the 2021 FMPR Scholar and received a $1,000 college scholarship.
Hernando graduated from Kaua`i High School and was active in Key Club, taiko drumming, Japanese Club, the National Honor Society, the Hui Ho`okipa Program, the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism, the Filipino Club, and band. She received numerous honors and awards during her high school career.
Hernando is attending Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Beppu, Japan to study business administration. Hernando notes, “Learning different ways of business is crucial as I return to Kaua`i to help my diverse community. I hope to present great business ethics in our community to successfully achieve our goals among many cultures.”
“Ryleigh has a deep honor for the sacrifices her family has made to achieve a better life and a love for the Kaua`i community. We are confident that she will return to Kaua`i one day to lead us into the future,” says Joy Miura Koerte, partner with FMPR.
“Coming from a family who immigrated from the Philippines to Hawai`i for a better life, hard work and discipline was a part of their daily routine. I will carry that same spirit as I embark on my new journey to college, working hard while intermingling with many people,” Hernando says.
“Ryleigh has a heart for business and the grit and determination to do well in school and life. We are excited to follow her success,” says Jenny Fujita, FMPR partner.
