March 2026, Lihuʻe, HI – Fujita & Miura Public Relations (FMPR) announced that Carly Dela Cruz and Zaylee Doi-Desmarais have been named the 2025 FMPR Scholars and have each received $1,000 college scholarships.
Carly Dela Cruz graduated from Kauaʻi High School and is attending Corban University majoring in marketing.
“Through my academic achievements, leadership roles, athletic involvement, and commitment to my community, I have cultivated a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to make a difference,” Dela Cruz shared. “Pursuing a degree in marketing will help me combine my skills and experiences to address Kauaʻi’s housing challenges and contribute to the well-being of our island’s families. I am excited to take the next steps in my educational and professional journey, knowing that each effort brings me closer to my goal of creating a lasting, positive impact on Kauaʻi.”
Zaylee Doi-Desmarais graduated from Kauaʻi High School and is attending Wake Forest University majoring in economics and minoring in both political science and computer science.
“As I begin to adjust to the crazy new life that I have created for myself at Wake Forest, I have realized that all the hard work I put into high school paid off and I ended up exactly where I am supposed to be,” said Doi-Desmarais. “First semester has been going great. It is definitely a tough adjustment moving so far away from home but overall this was the best decision I could have made for myself. I am excited to share that I have been chosen for a mentorship program with Accenture, one of the top consulting firms in the country! I will be working directly with Wake Forest alums assisting with projects, developing tech and financial skills, and building my resume for future opportunities.”
“We are so proud of this year’s scholars, whose achievements reflect their dedication, resilience, and promising futures,” said FMPR Partner Jenny Fujita.
“Their leadership and service to others reflect the promise of the next generation and the positive impact they will continue to make,” said FMPR Partner Joy Miura Koerte.
